Dutton Close Update

Representatives from Shropshire Council and Stoke Upon Tern Parish Council met again online on Wednesday 16th September to discuss the status of the new-build houses on Dutton Close.

It was noted that there has been positive and regular communication with the developer since the previous meeting and several of the properties are now being advertised for rent or buy and we will work to promote them including to local registered housing providers.

In addition, the developer has applied to the Local Planning Authority to vary the original S106 agreement relating to affordable housing. This has been considered in the context of the viability and financing of the scheme, and the Council has resolved to approve the application. This could have a positive impact on the price of the homes and other options regarding the provision of affordable housing is being explored with other registered providers.

It was also noted that Serco are still in the process of returning some of the properties to the developers, as per their contractual obligations. Serco have confirmed their presence on site on Friday 11th and have indicated that they are likely to attend again to remove furnishings. This is a perfectly routine activity and should not be construed as anything else.

Shropshire Council and Stoke Upon Tern Parish Council will continue to liaise with the developers to further the availability of the properties for local people and to clarify the status of the Play Park, which it was noted is also of concern to residents on Dutton Close
