No Asylum Seekers at Dutton Close or Clive Barracks
Stoke upon Tern Parish Council
On Friday 10th July in the afternoon, we learned that the Home Office has cancelled plans to place asylum seekers on Dutton Close in Stoke Heath. This came as a great relief to all concerned.
Following that announcement, there were rumours on Monday 13th July that asylum seekers would instead be placed at Clive Barracks (Tern Hill). Following a question raised in Parliament the same day by Rt Hon Mark Pritchard MP, the Home Office ruled this out and confirmed, on the Parliamentary record, that Clive Barracks would not be used to home any asylum seekers.
The Parish Council is now working with all involved parties to try to ensure the properties on Dutton Close are completed and made available to local residents.
